Purity Ball the Musical, an original musical at The Annoyance Theatre explores the eerily incestuous world of evangelical Christian purity balls: ceremonies in which young girls symbolically give their virginity to their fathers to guard it until they find a husband. Our story follows Isabel, a devout Christian tempted to have sex with the dreamy worship bandleader days before the Colorado Springs Purity Ball. As purity festivities inch towards a bizarre father-daughter love-fest, Isabel must decide: Is purity a myth or does losing your virginity actually make you a broken woman?
